How to unlock exams?

Once you’ve finished all 20 lessons, Live Practice sessions, and the three Mid-course tests in your Chatterbox course, you’ll unlock the Practice Exam and Final Exam.

Practice Exam

The Practice Exam is designed to help you get ready for the Final Exam. It’s optional, but we highly recommend taking it. Why? Because it’s your last chance to review everything you’ve learned and boost your confidence before the Final Exam!

Like the Mid-course tests, the Practice Exam covers reading, listening, and writing skills. Plus, during your last lesson (Lesson 20), you’ll get to practice your speaking skills with your language coach. You can take the Practice Exam as many times as you like.

Final Exam

The Final Exam is the last step to complete your Chatterbox course. It tests your four core language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. You can take the Final Exam only once, and to pass, you need a score of 75% or higher in each skill.

Final Exam structure:

  • Reading & Listening: A 40-question quiz (20 questions per skill), including multiple choice, true/false, image choice, and word-level typing questions.

  • Writing: Write your responses to prompts in a document and upload it to the study area. (Same process as the mid-course tests, with no time limit.)

  • Speaking: Record your responses to prompts and upload the audio files to the study area. (No time limit.)
