What are the Mid-course tests?

Mid-course tests are a perfect opportunity for you to review what you have learned and measure your progress every five lessons (they appear after lesson 5, lesson 10 and lesson 15).

Test format

The test covers three core language skills: reading, listening and writing. Each test comes in two parts, which take no more than one hour to complete in total. Part one is a 20-question quiz that targets your listening and reading skills. Part two is a writing exercise that will be reviewed by your Language Helper who will give you personalised feedback, usually within five days.

Passing grade

You need a score of 75% or higher to pass part one of each mid-course test. At the end of each quiz, you will be directed towards the relevant assignments (units) we recommend revisiting and you can then retake them as many times as you like. Part two (the writing exercise) can only be taken once. However, if you would like some extra practice to improve your writing skills, just ask your Language Helper who will happily help out!

Preparation

The Mid-course tests do not require any extra preparation as they are based on the topics of the previous five lessons you have studied. So all you need to do is make sure that you are consistently completing your online self-study assignments and attending your Live Practice sessions. The Mid-course tests also help prepare you for the Final Exam.

Motivation

Tests, like deadlines, can be a great source of motivation (no, really!). Our tests, which have been developed by qualified linguists and language-teaching professionals, are designed to enhance your language skills and make you the best linguist you can be.
