What do I need to do before attending my first Live Practice?

Before Your First Live Practice

Preparation = Progress

Your Live Practice works best when you arrive prepared. Before joining your first session, complete the self study content in your current lLesson 1 in the self-study area.

This ensures your live class is 100% focused on speaking and producing the language in engaging interactive exercises and interaction, not explanation.

What should you do to complete a lesson and move on to the next? You Should Do

1. Complete the eLearning content in your own time and pacefirst lesson
Work through all self-study assignments in the Lesson 1 before your Live Practice. We recommend you dedicate 10 to 15 minutes per day.

2. Aim for high completion

  • Try to reach 100% progress where possible, as a minimum, aim for at least 70%

This will help you feel confident and get the most value from your time with your Language Coach.

How to Study Effectively

You’re free to study whenever it fits your schedule, but we recommend:

  • A little study every day, rather than cramming

  • Following the built-in study breaks (“Brain freezes”) in Cerego

  • These short pauses give your brain time to process and store new information, a technique backed by learning science and proven to improve memory.

Tip: We recommend booking your live practice sessions in advance, about two weeks apart. You don’t need to wait until you reach 100% to schedule your next session — booking ahead helps secure your coach’s availability and keeps you moving smoothly through the programme without unnecessary delays.

What Not to Worry About

It’s completely normal to feel nervous before your first Live Practice. Here’s what you don’t need to worry about:

  • Making mistakes – Mistakes are a key part of learning and are expected

  • Forgetting words or grammar – Your coach will support you and help you find the right expressions

  • Not understanding everything – Live Practice is designed to clarify and reinforce learning

  • Speaking perfectly – The goal is communication, not flawless language

Your Language Coach is there to help you build confidence, not to test you.

Ready?

Once you’ve completed at least 70% in your assignments, you’re ready to join your first Live Practice.

Come prepared, speak as much as you can, and enjoy the conversation!
