How do I study on Cerego?
Structure: Study First, Then Attend Your Live Practice
Each Chatterbox lesson includes around 5 self-study assignments (units) on Cerego.
You should complete these independently before attending your Live Practice.
The structure is simple:
Self-study → Review → Live Practice
Your Live Practice is designed to help you use what you studied, so completing your assignments first is essential.
Study Breaks
While studying, you may receive notifications recommending a study break.
These breaks are intentional. They are designed to:
Prevent cramming
Encourage daily study habits (around 10–15 minutes per day)
Help your brain retain information more effectively
You will first see the break notification in Cerego.
Then, in your Study Area, you’ll see that the assignment is temporarily locked with a timer showing when it will be available again.
Why Does This Happen?
These study breaks (sometimes called “Brain Freezes”) are part of the learning design.
They encourage you to:
Review vocabulary and grammar gradually
Study consistently over several days
Strengthen long-term memory before your Live Practice
We recommend reaching at least 70% progress in each self-study assignment before meeting with your Language Coach.
How to Get the Most Out of Your Self-Study
Make use of reminders!
You can:
Follow the timers shown in the Study Area
Enable email notifications from Cerego
To manage your notifications:
Go to: https://cerego.com/dashboard
Click your name in the top right corner
Go to Settings → Notifications
We recommend keeping the final notification option enabled
These reminders help you stay consistent and avoid last-minute studying.
A Helpful Tip
Small, regular study sessions are far more effective than long, intensive ones.
10–15 minutes a day can make a big difference in how confident you feel during Live Practice.
